ABOUT US

FilmAmed

FilmAmed Documentary Film Festival is an international film festival organized with the aim of preserving social memory, making cultural heritage visible and bringing together different perspectives by using the power of documentary cinema.

Our festival first started in 2011 as film days at Cegerxwîn Art Academy within Kayapınar Municipality, then developed its mission and vision and continued its journey as a film festival.

In the process of usurping the will of the people with the trustee policies that started in 2016, FilmAmed Documentary Film Festival continued its journey by the Middle East Cinema Academy Association in solidarity with democratic institutions and organizations in Amed.

The festival is again organized by Kayapınar Municipality and the Middle East Cinema Academy Association.

While the festival brings together documentary films produced in the region and around the world with the audience, it undertakes the duty of being a platform that brings documentary filmmakers together.

Film Amed aims to create a meeting point for everyone interested in documentary cinema and to encourage academic and artistic discussions.

The FilmAmed Documentary Film Festival aims to promote documentary cinema as a means of expression, making cultural diversity and social issues visible.

The festival supports the productions of independent filmmakers, ensuring that original and critical documentaries reach wider audiences.

In the long term, FilmAmed aims to become a respected documentary film festival regionally and internationally.

It aims to position itself as a cultural event that strengthens social dialogues through cinema, encourages artistic production and increases the impact of documentary cinema.

The festival will continue to contribute to independent cinema production by bringing together different perspectives.
